The ins and outs of screenprinted signs

We love screenprinted signs – they produce great results, are high quality and offer a very practical way of promotion. And they look great!  However, despite being a super awesome product, they may not be the best option in all cases.  In this blog post we’re going to break it all down, so you can learn the ins and outs of screenprinted signs, and help you decide if they are right for you.

Are screenprinted signs right for you?

Step 1 – determine quantity needed

The main reason to use a screenprinted process is large runs of signs.  So, the first point to start in your sign selection process is to ask yourself a very simple question – “how many signs do I need?”  If you land on 50 plus, then these could be a good bet.  If you land on 100 plus, screenprinted signs are likely to be your best bet.

Step 2 – what will they be used for?

We mostly commonly see screenprinted signs used for outdoor purposes, for things like site management hazard boards, events, or campaign-based signs.  Screenprinted signs can be used for anything where the artwork stays the same and there is a large quantity required.

Step 3 – ACM or corflute?

We can do screenprinting on ACM and corflute. The most appropriate sign material for the job depends on what the sign is being used for.  For outdoor signs that need to last a long time we recommend using ACM (aluminium Composite Material).  For indoor signs or temporary / short term outdoor signs then corflute would be fine.  There is 3mm and 5mm corflute options to choose from, the latter being more durable but also more expensive.

How are screenprinted signs made?

Screenprinted signs are printed using screens which are custom made then ink is applied to the signboard in layers of colours (which we can pantone match if need be), on colour over another to produce a final result. These signs have a one off setup cost (removed from any future orders) for preparing the screens as a by-product of this process – and are therefore significantly cheaper per unit to run in larger quantities.  Once the screen is set up any future re-orders will not incur this set up cost, further reducing your per unit costs.

What are the benefits of screenprinted signs?

  • They are waterproof and can last years outdoors – giving you good bang for your buck, or return on investment (ROI) for our marketing nerds.
  • They give the best possible print quality – colours are bold and pictures are sharp.
  • They can offer the lowest per unit price for large volumes!

What are screenprinted signs good for?

So in short, screenprinted signs are good for…

  • Runs of 50 signs or more, up to however many you want
  • Limited, solid (spot) colours – the more colours used, the more expensive the sticker will cost

How long will it take to make my screenprinted signs?

How do I get a quote or order screenprinted signs?

We need to prepare a custom quote for screenprinted signs, so please fill in our quote form with all the details and attach your artwork.  We’ll then get back to you with some different options and prices.
