Using sticker stencils for signs

Using vinyl die cut stickers for sign stencils is something we get asked for every now and then. They are often used for very interesting projects which we are stoked to be able to help bring to life!

Using stickers for sign stencils are an easy and cost effective way to get a custom stencil made, and they work really well for application on smooth surfaces.  We can usually turn these around within a couple of working days so there will be no crazy delays to completing your project (which you may find with getting your custom stencil made elsewhere).

Sign stencils example #1 – for your beloved boat

Paul Mes came to us looking to get his drawing converted into a custom vinyl sticker stencil, so that he could paint it on his boat. We sorted out his artwork, made the sign stencil, sent it and now the Marauder is seaworthy 👍

Sign stencils example #2 – for the Nice Blocks cart

The guys from Nice Blocks came to us looking for removable vinyl sticker stencil that would allow them to spray paint their logo on their new cart. We cut them out of masking vinyl, sent them off and the results were epic. Thanks for the business boys, we look forward to eating more of your delicious ice blocks… These guys make really delicious vegan ice blocks and coconut ‘nice creams’. Check them out HERE!

Sign stencils example #3 – for Collective Contractors

The guys at Collective Contractors were looking for a sign stencil so they could spray paint there logo onto the side of a building.  We made a rather large stencil up for them using a low tack matt black vinyl stock for easy removal.  They were super happy with the results!

How to apply your sign stencils

Sticker sign stencils are super easy to use!

  1. Simply peel off the backing paper and place your sticker into the desired position.
  2. Press your sticker firmly into place, ensuring all the air bubbles are removed.  We use a squeegee to do this but if you don’t have one try using a credit card, ruler or other object that has a solid edge to it.
  3. Once firmly in place, peel off the application tape and your sticker will be revealed.
  4. You are now ready to paint your sign!
  5. Once the paint is dry you can carefully remove the sticker and the job is done💥!
